When to check the board
Jobs are posted every weekday at 4:30 p.m. and close the next morning at 9:00 a.m. Check here once a day between those times. A job that closes without your application on it is gone until it's reposted.
How dispatch works
When a posting closes, the dispatcher fills the union hires from the availability list for each specialization the job accepts, lowest number first. Your number is your place in line. You can see it on your Home page.
- You must be Available to be dispatched. Working members can't bid.
- Members whose dues are more than 90 days behind are still allowed to bid, but must settle up before the dispatch slip is issued.
- If a job accepts more than one of your specializations, pick the one you want to be dispatched under. Your number on that list is the one that counts.
- You'll be called at the phone number on your record. Keep it current, and answer.
Name hires
Some postings include name hires, which the contractor fills directly. Those are shown separately from union hires so you know how many spots come off the list.
Turning down a dispatch
You can turn down a dispatch once without losing your place. A second refusal within 30 days moves you to the bottom of the list.
If you can't apply
If the board says a job isn't open to you and you think that's wrong, call the job line before the posting closes. We can take your application over the phone and sort out your record after.
